Social Media Mindset Markers

Paul Chaney, author of The Digital Handshake, has identified several mindset markers that should characterize a shift in thinking on social media (Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace, etc.).  Among them:
  • Your Website is the hub. Use of social media should always point back to the site.
  • Information on your site should be findable and shareable. Include the right keywords, use of Search Engine Optimization, and easy ways to share pages with others.
  • Listening is the new marketing. Social media gives you a chance to learn more about your members and prospects.
  • Everybody has a voice, and every voice matters. Social media and website communication tools make two-way conversations possible.
  • Be willing to lose control of your content if you want to spread your ideas. Audio sermons, online videos, and other resources can be made easily available.
