Word for the Day: Cache

Friday, February 22, 2008 View Comments Comments (0)
Cache, pronounced "cash", is basically a term for technology-related storage where your computer or software automatically stores information it thinks you'll need again.  Among many examples, a cache is used to store Web URLs, pages and images that you've recently viewed.  The next time you go back, what you've seen before loads a whole lot faster.

While the cache is intended to speed up access, a cache that gets too full can slow down a computer's performance.  It's a good idea to clear the cache periodically.  You'll often find these stored items in the Temporary Internet Files folder.

As you might say when trying to organize your surroundings, "everything has its place."  And in E-zekiel, the one place that holds almost everything is called My Files.

This is an online file storage space where you can store and manage materials such as photos, graphics, audio, video and documents that you want to make accessible from your website.  Thus, you can keep everything you need in one location, organizing them in multiple levels of folders and with delete-and-add capabilities for multiple records.
