Changing the Page Order in Your Menu

Friday, March 18, 2011 View Comments Comments (0)
All it takes is a bit of basic HTML code to reorder the pages that you add as links to your site menu. Go to the Pages manager and open (or add) the page. In the field for Menu Title, type <!– a –> before the page title for the page that you want to appear first in your menu listing. Continue with <!– b –>, <!– c –> and so forth for subsequent pages. Visit E-zekiel's online manual to learn more.

This process will take care of your page ordering in the menu – but to reorder the other managers that are also added as links to your site menu, you’ll need to take an additional step.  These include Events, Syndication, Media, Resources and Albums. If you want to relocate them in the site menu, follow these steps:
  • Create a page in the Pages manager with a title similar to (or the same as) the manager page you want to relocate and make sure the "Add Link to Site Menu" value is "Yes".
  • Use the shortcut field to input the full URL for your manager (should look something like "http://www.yoursite.com/events")
  • Return to your manager settings tab and change the "Add Link to Site Menu" value to "No"
  • Repeat the process for additional manager pages.

Easy Ways to Share Media

Friday, March 11, 2011 View Comments Comments (0)
E-zekiel’s Media manager and E-zekiel.tv provide ways that you can share your media – and others can help you share it too. For example, when you use the E-zekiel Media manager to upload video and audio files to your site, an embed code will be displayed beneath your media. This code can be used to embed your video on another site and keep spreading your messages. Additionally, the media is also displayed with a link, which can be used to bring visitors from another site back to your site and your media.

Media Audio and video files uploaded to your siLike and Share Features

Audio and video files uploaded to your site through the E-zekiel Media Manager are accompanied by icons that let your viewers “like” your media as well as share it with a friend or through Twitter and Facebook. This gives site visitors another way to interact with your content – and it also gives them a way to help spread your messages. In addition, the more times a video or audio is “liked,” the more likely someone else will want to view it.

How do I set up my mobile device to receive email?

Friday, February 25, 2011 View Comments Comments (0)

While mobile devices differ in their specific setups they generally require the same information.  Below you'll find a list of common settings needed for email setup:

Username: Enter your full email address such as emailaccount@yourdomain.com
Password:  Enter the password for your email account
Incoming Server: mail.websrvcs.com (if your device prompts for an SSL connection use securemail.websrvcs.com)
Outgoing Server: mail.websrvcs.com (if your device prompts for an SSL connection use securemail.websrvcs.com)

*The Outgoing server does require authentication - use the same username and password anywhere the device requests it

If after setting the email account up you can receive but not send, change your outgoing port number from 25 to 587.  This setting may be in an advanced section of the email setup.

How to Change Email Addresses

Changes to staff can affect your email addresses. To change your email addresses, you can contact E-zekiel customer support by sending a request to emailsetup@websrvcs.com with the names of the accounts you would like to add, change, or delete.  Include the desired email address(es) (username@yourdomain.com) and password(s). You’ll receive notification when the email account has been set up.

If you want to make the changes yourself, you can set up an email administrator account. To do so, send an email to emailsetup@websrvcs.com. Include your request to set up an email administrator as well as your domain name, site ID, password, your first and last name, your email address, and a security question/answer. You will receive a confirmation email once the setup is complete, and you will be able to administrate your email accounts by going to http://mymail.websrvcs.com.

Email File Sizes

E-zekiel customers using Webmail can send attachments of up to 25 MB through email. If you have larger files, you also have a couple of other options. First, you can compress the file. Right-click your mouse over a file, and the “send to” option will allow you to select “compressed (zipped) folder”, which you can then attach to an email message. For even larger files, you can use file-sharing sites such as DropSend.com and YouSendIt.com. Both of these third-party tools are listed in the Resources section on the E-zekiel site.

Why Fonts Are Limited in Content Management Systems

Monday, January 24, 2011 View Comments Comments (0)
Have you ever wondered why web sites use a limited set of fonts?  When using a specific font in your web site, visitors to your site must have the same font loaded on their computer in order to see it correctly. If the font is not found, a default font which is typically set within the user's browser will display instead.

As you’ve likely realized from your own experiences in word processing, a simple change in font can change the way the words fall on the page.  Consequently, content management systems tend to make those fonts, called core fonts,  available that are universal to all web users in order to maintain the integrity of the design.

As Web standards and browsers advance more options for using custom fonts will become available.

Google Analytics Provides Site Activity Details

Friday, January 14, 2011 View Comments Comments (0)
What’s happening on your site? Google Analytics can provide some answers. A free statistics service, once it’s integrated with your site, you can see an overview of activity over the last 30 days.  Among the details it provides, you can find out how many times a particular page was viewed and how many were unique (non-repeating) visitors. The pages are also broken down into top content (most viewed pages), content by page (views for individual pages) as well as by other categories.  If you haven’t signed up for Google Analytics, click here to learn more: http://help.e-zekiel.com/

More E-zekiel.tv Categories

Friday, January 07, 2011 View Comments Comments (0)
E-zekiel.tv has added two new categories that we're eager to see how you will use to share Christ. "My Story," smartly suggested by an E-zekiel.tv user, is a place that can be used to share personal testimonies as well as other stories that highlight particular steps within your walk of faith.

"Environment," another new category, would be a logical place for media about, say, a church conducting a recycling drive or planting trees in honor of a special occasion. Showing that you're not only in your community, but helping preserve your community's natural resources, is a powerful outreach tool.
