Using the Same Heading Format on Different Pages

Tuesday, October 30, 2007 View Comments Comments (0)
If you've used pre-set formatting for headings while working in your word processing software, you'll be glad to know you can do the same in E-zekiel.  The Format field in your Page Editor will give you access to headings of different sizes that you can apply throughout your site.  That way you won't have to guess which type style you used on a page you created previously.  Instead, you can apply Heading 1 for all main headings; Heading 2 for all subheads, etc.

HTML - The Language of Websites

One of the best selling points of E-zekiel is that our customers don't have to learn HTML code.   But some of our customer may be asking, "What is HTML code anyway?"  So here's a basic explanation.

HTML is short for HyperText Markup Language – which is the computer language used to create websites that, like any other language, has its own vocabulary (or code words) and syntax (how the code words are used).  Once in place, anyone connected to the Internet can view the websites created by HTML.

As an E-zekiel customer, you don't have to know HTML code because our developers have created a content management system that enables your site creation to seem more like using word processing software.  If you want to see or adjust the HTML code in your site, all you have to do is click "Source view" in the page editor.

Will Your Links Be Unbroken?

Friday, October 12, 2007 View Comments Comments (0)
You know how it goes – you conduct an Internet search, and while scrolling through your results, you zoom in on an article title that's the very topic you're looking for – an almost verbatim display of the search words you just entered.  Hurray! And yet... you click the link, and what happens? Your hopes are dashed by a white page with black type telling you the technological equivalent of "too bad, so sad" (which typically comes out something like "page could not be found").

Broken links are at best a disappointment to site visitors and often an irritation. Keep that from happening by keeping your links current.  Make a practice to review your links regularly and fix any that are broken. To check out free online link checkers, visit www.dead-links.com or http://validator.w3.org/checklink.

How to single space in the Page Editor

The Page Editor is programmed to automatically double space when you press Enter (Return for Mac users). To single space, hold down the Shift key and then press Enter where you want the next line to start. Note that you can accomplish the same feat by using no returns in your text until the end of the paragraph.

Add a Layer of Security When Collecting Sensitive Information

Friday, September 28, 2007 View Comments Comments (0)
As we mentioned earlier, forms are a great way to collect volunteer names, interests and contact information for upcoming events.  You'll also be glad to know that when information is sensitive or private, you have the option to add a layer of security.
After you have created a form, simply right-click on the form and select "Form Properties." In the dialog box that appears, click "Use Other Processor" button. When the "Explorer User Prompt" window opens, use your mouse or the arrow key to navigate to the beginning of the URL line. Just before the forward slash, enter the following: https://secure.websrvcs.com
Click "OK." Then click "OK" again in the dialog box and you're done!
